Found this over at digg.com It’s a player, downloader, organizer for internet video.  Uses bittorrent for distribution… (yes share the load don’t just leech)  It’s just pretty neat… there’s a bunch of stuff… just have to look and thing… ok… this is a beta but also the amount of content is small… but it’s EAZY (like itunes easy) and has alternative programming… (alternative != network programming)

No schedules… it downloads in the background…  but man pretty cool!

Ok I’ve been running IE7 for a bit now… not just starting it up and going ooo it runs but having it as my default browser.  Yes DEFAULT.  Some really good things happened and some not so good and some I said some words my kids didn’t need to hear.  I’ll try not to slam IE or Firefox and rather than whine try and put a solution.  I do know that IE7 is BETA….

  • Fast Fast Fast.. Yes it’s fast… MUCH BETTER THAN FIREFOX with less memory… And YES I’ve tried the compiles of Firefox for my system.  DON’T START ABOUT THE “Well some of the stuff IE uses is hidden within the system memory” Because I don’t think 200MB is hidden when the system is using 400MB of ram and Firefox is using 200MB.  I do feel that because the Firefox codebase is multiplatform, specific windows api calls that would enable a LOT less memory and processor usage are unable to be used.  It’s kinda like legos. You have some knock offs which have a lot of the standard pieces.  But to build a Millenium Falcon you can try and piece it together with stadard pieces or get some of the special Lego brand pieces. The only resolution is to fork the Firefox code and put in these types of optimizations but this would increase the update lifecycle and cause a NIGHTMARE with extension builders.  Not that it cannot be done just really really tough to coordinate.
  • Tabs WHO DOESN’T LIKE EM? They even close with a middle click!  But there are some issues with how IE uses them you’ll see later on…
  • Popups Pretty much ok on the popup blocker.
  • ActiveX Security I get the warnings.  VERY NICE! This resolves almost all of the “Well it uses ActiveX So it’s BAD”.  At this point it’s USER EDUCATION.  I’ve been on a LOT of websites.  MOST do not install ActiveX CRAP.  The ones that do are USUALLY in 2 categorys.  Porn or Hacking.  I’m not going to touch on the porn but if you’re not an intermediate or advanced computer user DON’T GO TO THESE SITES!  To go and install these things is to each chewing gum from the bottom of a table in a seedy bar.
  • Roboform - Yeah it works!
  • Definatly Doable - I can use it as my browser on a daily basis.   I would be BLOWN AWAY if I never had used Firefox.  But it’s a sizeable feature upgrade (albiet 2 years late) to IE.

Ok now for the bad stuff

  • Rendering - Popfile looks like CRAP in this browser.  Worked FINE in IE6, IE 5, Opera, Netscape, Firefox.  But now there are things WRONG.  A few other sites just DON’T LOOK RIGHT
  • ACID2 - Did MS people say WE DON’T NEED NO STANDARDS?  Granted it renders most sights fine but have to seen this?  Firefox at least gets a circle somewhat together.  This looks like the smilie face was run over by a steam roller.
  • Tabs - give them a sticker for effort.  Yes the work.  Not enough features.  In Firefox I can have only 1 browser and if a link is opened from another program it sucks it in. IE opens a NEW browser.  No this is NOT popups this is opening from Google Desktop Sidebar, Email, Start menu.  There’s a total of  5 checkboxes and 3 radio buttons for configuration.  With Firefox I have Tabbrowser Extensions.  which has like 200 options.  The open new tab button is blank on my  system except when moused over… This is something that they can resolve with a few patches.  NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX….
  • Missing Extensions - This is just whiny.   But I LOVE the Performancing Blogging Extension and a bunch of other development extensions.

Ok so I’ve been using it for about a week now… and I like no LOVE the speed.  Browser windows POP.  It reminds me of the trick of changing the menu display speed for Windows.  It just feels FASTER.  Less memory all this makes it GREAT tabs are a step in the right direction.  Will I throw out my Firefox HELL NO!  But I’m curious to see how MS goes with this.

Been working for a bit with it and have a few impressions

  • Faster than FireFox…. loading, rendering etc…
  • Acid2 Test? HA not even close!
  • Tabs… good effort… Now let me reopen old tabs…
  • Extensions? I want a few Firefox extensions ported….
  • Import Firefox Bookmarks PLEASE!
  • Stable no crashes…. yet
  • Roboform works… yeah!
  • Keywords…

So all in all not a bad browser.  I’m trying to see if I can work with it more… I’m posting from it now… but it seems really fast….

One of the best shows I’ve seen. I can watch the same episode several times in a day even. EVERY character has their own issues and are perfect in their issues.

Nope sorry didn’t like it… some funny stuff but the Red’s voice didn’t fit… animation seemed cheap at times… and way to much rock music…  and I spent $17.75 to see it with my youngest… GRRRRR

Yeah she liked it

Saw it last night… one word… AWESOME…

Some might complain about some of the acting (a bit stilted at times) but it was IMMENSELY enjoyable… My daughter and I Loved it (although she loved the Spongebob Movie better)
